Hosted Networking Lunches
Connect with a concentrated group to discuss topics of interest during your conference lunchtimes! Each day of the conference, the Conference Lounge will hold small, limited capacity networking luncheon events that are open to any registered conference attendee. Participation is first-come, first-served, and some events may require pre-registration. Buffet lunch will be provided. Click for details on each event.

Evening Receptions
Conference registrants are invited to attend all of these evening receptions as a part of their registration fee. If a conference registrant would like to bring an additional guest to one of these receptions, registration can be purchased here.
Awards Recognition and Welcome Reception
Saturday, September 30th, 19:00 – 21:00
The SMS Awards and Journal Prizes will be presented from about 19:00 – 19:30 in the plenary session room (Grand Ballroom West). Sparkling beverages will be distributed to entering guests so they can toast the honorees! At about 19:30, the Welcome Reception will commence in the adjacent Conference Lounge (Grand Foyer) with drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Monday Night Event
Monday, October 2nd, 18:30 – 21:30
Meet us at Chefs Hall for a Monday Night Event with an international cuisine theme that celebrates Toronto’s status as the world’s most multicultural city.
Chefs Hall is a test kitchen for up-and-coming chefs who represent communities from around the world. This offsite networking event will be a food-centric evening that explores the diversity of Toronto’s international cuisine scene in a trendy downtown space.
The dress for this event is business casual and conference name badges are required for entrance into the event. Chefs Hall is a 3-minute walk from the Sheraton. Information regarding optional walking group departure times will be provided in the conference app.
Closing Reception
Tuesday, October 3rd, 17:45 – 18:30
A final networking opportunity with drinks and light canapes will take place in the Conference Lounge.
Social Guest Registration
If you are travelling with a partner or friend and would like to invite them to join one of the Evening Receptions at SMS Toronto, please click here to register them as social guests!
Registration is available for each of the evening receptions planned as part of the conference, except the Interest Group & Community Socials on Sunday. These registration options do not include lunches or coffee breaks. Evening Receptions are planned with adult attendees in mind, therefore guests under age 18 are not recommended. Please note however that all social guests must be registered and have a name badge for entry, even young children.
Lunches, Coffee Breaks, and Conference Lounge
SMS Toronto will have many opportunities for informal networking and meet-ups. IG&Cs will host tables where their members can connect over lunch in the general conference lunchroom Saturday-Tuesday. During coffee breaks, attendees will congregate in the Conference Lounge for refreshments while they chat with colleagues or visit our sponsors’ exhibit booths. For anyone needing a quiet place to hold an informal meeting, the Conference Lounge will be open all day Sunday – Tuesday.
